How to Pumpkin Spice Up Your Holidays
The holidays are?just around the corner, meaning you should probably start cooking as soon as possible. With Thanksgiving behind us, why not prolong your celebration by incorporating a few Thanksgiving-inspired dishes into your holiday meal.
Personally, I could never get sick of Thanksgiving food; however, if you are looking to spice up some of Thanksgiving?s classic dishes in order to enjoy ‘em all winter long, here are five pumpkin-inspired ways to do so!
5. Start any meal with some honey butter pumpkin dinner rolls. This recipe from Avery Cooks promises just enough pumpkin flavor to satisfy pumpkin lovers without overpowering the dynamic duo that is bread and butter.
Soft, sweet, fluffy. How could these be bad?
4. Mashup the iconic Thanksgiving side dish with fresh pumpkin to add a little color to your table. This simple pumpkin mashed potatoes recipe has only seven ingredients, so it can hopefully take some of the stress off of holiday dinner preparations.
My kind of mashup.
3. Who says you can?t spice up the main attraction? Even turkey could benefit from some pumpkin spice by means of pumpkin seed stuffing with chorizo! This twist on turkey stuffing was voted one of the best recipes of 2008, and thanks to the LA Times? video, replicating it has never been easier.
Now, on to dessert:
4. As much as I love Ann Arbor, my cozy little college town has one major flaw: Where is the Cheesecake Factory? Last week, with the help of my pal Google Maps, I may or may not have (hint: I did) driven 45 minutes each way for a slice of their seasonal favorite?pumpkin cheesecake.
Luckily, this holiday season I can enjoy this treat far past Thanksgiving, and even save a little gas money by making my own! This recipe?from the food network promises to come close to everyone?s favorite fall treat.
5.? If you can?t choose between pumpkin and pecan pie, now you don?t have to. Martha Stuart so courteously brings us a new Thanksgiving inspired delicacy, a hybrid between the two former staples. Bring on the mile high pumpkin pecan pie!
So this year, while you’re menu planning, keep your Thanksgiving and pumpkin-loving guests in mind. Because let?s be real, who doesn?t love a little spice?
Happy Holidays!
