The 8 Types Of Jeans That Will Be “In” This Fall

By Victoria Robertson on August 19, 2015

Jeans make the world go ‘round. Okay, that’s not exactly true, but jeans are pretty amazing, and if you’re anything like me, you’re constantly wearing them.

They’re comfortable, can be dressed up or down and there are so many different kinds now that whatever you put on is bound to be unique.

But what jeans will be in fashion this fall? Here are eight types of jeans you will want to be looking for in the stores for the upcoming fall semester.

1. Colored

Quickly growing in popularity, colored jeans are an absolute must this fall. They’re an extra pop of color for those of you that like to stand out, and buying the right pair can certainly tie an entire outfit together.

The best part about this style: you can be as loud as your personality. If you’re an extroverted person, picking louder and more vibrant colors, such as bright pinks and yellows, will reflect your personality in your style.

If you’re more introverted, sticking to pale pinks and muted blues and greens will be much better suited to you. It’ll give you that extra pop, but without drawing too much unwanted attention.

2. Skinny

Skinny jeans are fantastic in the fall, especially when boot season comes back around.

Not only do they tuck neatly into whatever boot fits your style, they are a great, sleek look perfect for dressing up into the night or dressing down for a day of classes.

Paired with a tight black shirt and a statement necklace, this look is perfect for college nightlife, but paired with a sweater and scarf, this look is comfortable enough for sitting in desk after desk as you go through your daily classes.

Skinny jeans should be present in every college female’s closet.

3. Printed

Much like colored jeans, printed jeans are making it big lately, especially the floral prints.

Again, this is more for creative, out-there personalities, but the look is really fabulous.

The look typically looks great with a plain, white shirt and peach/light pink scarf to tie it all together. But don’t be afraid to mix and match colors and have fun with this look, because that’s how it’s meant to be treated.

4. Boot cut

While many will say this look is a little dated, it’s still a fantastic alternative to the skinny jean. While it’s not quite as wide as the flare jean, it’s also not quite as form fitting as the skinny jean, perfect for those that want a looser feel to their jeans.

When paired with shorter booties, this look is very fashion-forward, and many believe it’s also far more comfortable than the skinny jean.

So long as you pair this look with the right shoe, you’re golden.

5. Ripped

For some reason, we continuously pay more for the ripped look. And once again, the look is in style and ready for the fall season.

Skinny jeans typically bear the ripped look well, and white ripped-jeans seem to have hit it big over the summer, which will probably carry a bit into the fall.

So whether you like a tear here and there or wear jeans with almost no fabric left, the ripped look is certainly going to be big this fall – just don’t wear this look to work. While it’s very chic, it’s certainly not formal.

6. Two-toned

Two-toned jeans are a great way to accentuate the more flattering parts of your leg. If you’re more conservative in your jean wearing, this is the look for you.

This style is a classic, and the two-tone coloring is very subtle, in such a way that your legs will look great without anyone thinking twice about it.

This color comes in all styles, so if you are more comfortable in flares or can’t get enough of the skinny jean, you’ll have no problem matching a style to the look that you’re satisfied with.

7. Rolled

Rolling your jeans, especially in that awkward transition from summer to fall where the weather isn’t quite sure what the temperature should be, is a must.

This typically works best with skinny jeans, and you just roll up the bottoms to the point you want the jeans. This is great for sandals or moccasins, and also a great way to keep from getting too hot or cold in the awkward season change.

Plus, you can always roll the jeans differently, expanding your jeans and making the most of your purchases.

8. Boyfriend jeans

And finally, there’s the boyfriend jean. This has been a rising look for quite a while now, and for good reason.

The boyfriend jean is a great look in general, but it must also be worn correctly.

Typically, pairing this look with heels is the best way to wear it. However, Converse, booties and other similar shoes can match the look as well.

Be careful with your shirt choices as well, as the look can end up making you look boxy if you aren’t careful.

The best part about jeans is that they come in all shapes, colors and sizes, and there’s always a look out there perfect for you.

So don’t be afraid to expand your jean horizons this fall – you’ll be glad you did!
