Finding That Missing Puzzle Piece
There’s your friends, your best friends, the parties: but what’s missing?
You realize your heart is like a puzzle piece waiting to be put back together. You know you are incredibly happy, but you can’t quite figure out what’s missing. You continuously think about where you can find this piece and then you realize it: this piece isn’t with you at school, but rather it’s home.
College is a huge adjustment for everyone, without a doubt. Leaving home is definitely never easy. Even when thinking about the excitement that lies ahead, you’re always nervous to leave what’s behind.
After countless hours spent watching “Grey’s Anatomy,” I always wondered what it would be like to have “my person.” I was always wondering what that special bond Cristina and Meredith shared was like. What it was like to know you have that person. Little did I know, I’ve had my person with me for the past 20 years of my life. I had found my person way before I even knew what it meant to have that “person.”
My rock, my go-to, my everything: my mom. And if you’re anything like us, no it’s not too much, and yes you should embrace it.
As Walt Disney says, “Around here however we don’t look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward opening up new doors and doing new things because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths everyday.”
I use that strong curiosity to lead me down all the paths I need to take, in order to get to that one main road. That one scary road that can bring you into a world of possibilities. That one scary road where I’m unsure when to get on and where it will lead me. That one scary road that I know I will never have to travel on alone.
They say diamonds are a girl’s best friend. They say dogs are a man’s best friend. But to me, my mom is forever my best friend.
She’s the one to pick you up when you fall, the one to hate everyone you hate, the one to comfort you when you need it, the one to always be proud of you, the one supporting you with every path you choose to take, the one who is always by your side, and more importantly, the one who will always be your biggest fan.
So for all those out there wondering what that missing puzzle piece is, realize it’s only a phone call away. Realize the road you’re traveling on doesn’t have to be a trip alone. Realize you’re lucky you have your person, your other half, your mom, and of course, your best friend.
I have to say, I really am the lucky one, but together we’re most definitely the luckiest.
