A Short List of Things That Make for a Happier You
Staying organized is the key to a healthy mind. Managing your time is important so that you are able to have a social life while still focusing on school, work, and other responsibilities, all while taking care of yourself and staying healthy.
Sounds overwhelming, doesn’t it? Luckily there are a ton of ways you can start to get your life together. Here are just a few that work for me.
1. Make your bed in the morning.
I know this sounds insane, but having the bed made gives the illusion of a clean room and may even increase your productivity. Don’t believe me? Here’s another account!
2. Eat all three meals every day.
This goes without saying, but we all know how busy we are. Breakfast is important because it gives you the energy you need to start your day, but having energy throughout the day is even more important than that. Eating three meals a day also prevents you from overeating during dinner, which could lead to fatigue and less productivity.
3. Keep a journal.
Journals are great for organization and keeping track of things. You can track your eating habits, exercise habits, health issues or habits, and much more! If you want to get creative, which helps immensely with relaxation, here are some creative journal ideas that are a great segway into your new organized lifestyle!
4. Do at least one thing every day that makes you happy.
You hold the key to your own happiness. Don’t let anyone steal that key from you. Make sure you make yourself happy at least once every day. This one thing could be watching an episode of that show you like on Netflix, listening to your favorite song, going for a walk and enjoying the view you see, or even stealing a spoonful of peanut butter from the jar.
5. Never forget to make time for yourself.
This is so important. You need to make time for you. Yes, it’s great that you put everyone else first, but you deserve some love, too! This goes hand in hand with the previous tip, but I mean really make some you-time. Take a bath, read a book, meditate, listen to music, do anything that will make you feel relaxed. Take about 20-30 minutes and just focus on yourself. You will not regret it.
