|School:||University of Virginia|
Pros: Interesting Lectures
Very Clear and Concise
Explains in a way that is easy understand
Cons: Tests are graded harshly by the TAs
Tricky Multiple Choice Final
Necessary to go to class to do well
Go to class, read the book, and do the practice problems at the end of each chapter to keep up. The TAs are useless, but if you do the above and stay on top of your work, you should be fine.
Pros: Great lectures,
Easy to read textbook
Great Lecturer, very engaging. much better than Elzinga
Pros: Very well spoken, energetic, funny, and most importantly, he is interesting. I believe that Prof. Coppock was a better professor than Prof. Elzinga, who is thought of as being the best economics teacher at the University of Virginia.
Cons: Tests questions are vague and tricky
Pros: relatively easy intro to macro course
Cons: he isn't funny no matter how hard he tries
talks a lot of non class related BS in class
Pros: Very funny and engaging
His lectures were never boring and seemed to be very well-prepared for class
Pros: Very friendly, fun professor who gives interesting lectures and loves what he does. I learned a lot from him.
Cons: The exams are very difficult and seem to include information you never learned, since he wants his students to "learn something while taking the exam." The curve helps.
Pros: Good lecturer
Cons: Difficult Tests
He makes material sound easy then tricks you on the tests. Be careful.
Pros: Great lecturer
Cons: Believes in learning on tests
Test come from notes mostly. Listen in class and you will do well
Pros: fun guy
class is not bad at all. he makes it fun
Pros: Great Professor
Pros: Great professor! He knows his stuff!
Cons: Challenging test, but's ok as long as you do the reading.
Pros: Lectures are very well organized (Coppock has been teaching this course for a while and pretty much has the class structure down to a science). Explains the material well and there are numerous TA's available for extra help as well as, albeit limited, office hours where Coppock can tutor you.
Cons: VERY large class (400+ usually), so don't expect to be able to ask many questions during lecture (thats what TA hours and discussion sections are for). Also, this course involves a good bit of memorization.
Overall a decent course. A fair bit of memorization involved(which kind of turned me off), but the concepts he teaches are definitely worth learning.
Pros: Awesome lecturer, theres a Dutch knock-out so if you do better on the final then in the class that's your only grade
Cons: The final is crazy hard
Loved it! Didn't even take 201 and still got an A.
Pros: He's a legend in Economics here at UVA and I would recommend taking his class. His classes are usually fun and his stories will keep you interested in economics throughout.
Cons: Very tricky test writer. He really wants to make you think about the question and wants you to give the perfect answer. Will take off all points if you don't know the answer the way he wants it so go to CLASS!!
Professor Coppock is a great professor. He makes boring material really interesting! My recommendation is to read the book and attend lectures. Highly recommended!
Awesome guy... deep knowledge
