Office hours saved me in this class!
Cons: He is a odd guy!
Projects add a lot of busy work.
Easy Class, just a lot of busy work.
His exams rely heavily upon being able to identify and go into gross detail about the poems. He doesn't expect you to just name the author/prose,poem or book, he wants you to explain how it is important in the story, the rhythm and how the poem flows. He wants you to go into great detail on the theme.
The essays he gives ahead of time, but you don't know which one he's going to pick. So it's easier to look over them all and have at least an idea on what you'd write about each topic.
He also gives A LOT of busy work. Be prepared to do tons of group activities, to sit in a circle, and read sections of the book. To me I felt like I was more in kindergarten than in a College English class. Between the busy work, figuring out the rhythm of the poems, and the circle it was just too much.
But he's willing to work with you outside of class if you're having trouble, and he's a lot better one on one than in the class. I just don't prefer his teaching style.
